Main Image
depends in the genre of the magazine but generally a main image of a model or object that sets the tone for the issue and is the focus of the front page. Generally representative of the audience’s interests as must grab attention.
Minor Image
smaller images that accompany the main image
Masthead
the name of the magazine or logo generally placed at the top
Typography
the house style and brand identity is generally recognisable through the typography. Very consistent. Vogue’s masthead font is DIDOT
Mode of Address
choice of using personal pronouns and questions and imperatives to address the reader/ the model’s address of the audience.
Puffs
Promotional stickers that make certain articles or content stand out from the rest of the cover
Graphics
essential features that add interest such as dates, prices and barcodes
Slogans
a main cover line that provides anchorage for the main image
Buzzwords
accentuated words that grab the interest of a reader
