when Jesus died on the cross, he paid the price for our sins and when he rose from the dead, he defeated death. Therefore, because of this Catholics can hope to go to Heaven after death and spend eternity with God. This is called Eternal Life.

• ‘particular judgement’ from God. This is an individual judgement where God decides on the soul’s destination based on the choices the person has made in their life.
• General judgement, (Parousia when Jesus returns from the dead, ) creates a new heaven and earth
