Civil Rights Movement:
1965-1968, was a movement in the US for Af. Americans to end discrimination and segregation
-Triggered by Rosa Park’s arrest
-began in 1965 was by boycott that was supposed to be one day but, turned into 1 year
—riders carpooled, walked, used bikes, rode horses, etc.
—damaged bus company’s financing
—Court ruled Alabama’s racial seg. laws for buses unconstitutional

June 1950- July 1953
-Planned to reunify north and South Korea but…
-North Korean (communist) army crossed 38th parallel
-South Korea (capitalist) led by Douglas MacArthur, the US and UN retaliate due to worry of communism spreading
-Victory at Inchon allowed US to recapture Seoul
-UN troops drive N. Korea back to 38th
-China comes to help N.Korea b/c afraid the UN wouldn’t stop at the Yalu River (border b/t N.K. and China)
–China defeats US army pushing fight back to 38th parallel
-MacArthur removed from command by Truman after trying to expand war and sending ultimatum to destroy cease-fire efforts
-rest of war consisted of little territory change
Armistice calling for cease-fire and demilitarized zone at 38th parallel was established
casualties unknown- estimate US lost 54,000 and Koreans combined 5 million
