Describe the testes
firm, mobile, ovoid organs suspended in the scrotum by the spermatic cord.
What are the testes covered by?
A fibrous coat called the tunica albuginea
What is the main hormone produced by the testes?
Testosterone
What divides testes internally into lobules?
Fibrous septa
What is the network of channels in the testes?
Rete testis
What joins the rete testes to the epididymis?
Efferent ductules
What is the epididymis?
long coiled tube posterior to the testes. Extremely tightly compacted so appears solid. Has a head and tail.
What is the storage site for spermatazoa?
The epididymis
What is the tail of the epididymis continuous with?
The ductus deferens which passes into the spermatic cord
What is the tunica vaginalis?
a double layer of connective tissue in a closed peritoneal sac
What is the visceral layer of the tunica vaginalis closely applied to?
The testes, epididymis and the inferior ductus deferens
