What are the micronutrients?
Iron, sodium, chlorine, copper, manganese, cobalt, zinc, molybdenum, and boron. ISC CMC ZMB
what are the major types of hormones?
Auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscisic acid, and ethylene.
Enlargement of cells, produce other hormones, delay development like fruit ripening.
Auxins
Movement nonpolar, most dicots grow faster with this present (and some monocots).
Gibberellins.
Regulate cell division, root tips and germinating seeds,
Cytokinins
Inhibits stimulant effects in other hormones, prevents seeds from germinating in fruit.
Abscisic acid
Ripens green fruits
Ethylene
What are tropisms?
Permanent movements resulting from external stimuli.
Plant moves according to light differences.
Phototropism - Positive(moving toward light) or negative (moving away from light).
Growth responses to gravity.
Gravitropism
Growth around solid object.
Thigmotropism
Response to chemicals.
Chemotropism
Short-day plants
Flower with short day length (strawberries)
Long-day plants
Flower only with long periods of light (potato, spinach, wheat)
