The BOSC reader on the SAT, and the Saturn reader (where you lay the BOSC)
BOSC reader displays “Blocked”. What does this mean?
BOSC ID/pass could be reported lost, stolen, or expired. Note: this is normal display for Red contractor and SSI cards, since they don’t have ride privileges.
Color status of AFC equipment on DAS: Green Gray Yellow Orange Red Black pointer
Green- normal, in service
Gray- offline, status unknown
Yellow- warning, needs service (low ticket supply, low receipt etc)
Orange- error, out of service
Red- alarm. Incorrect or unauthorized access
Black pointer- indicates the aisle direction
Can a person film/photograph on the platform?
Yes, because it is a publicly accessible area…but they must be going somewhere A to B
What do media personnel need to film?
A Letter of Authorization from Communications Dept
A man is trying to sell candy in the station. What is the procedure for selling on BART?
Need a concessions permit from BARTs Real Estate Services Dept: Right of Way Management Division
Bart may not prohibit, in its free areas, the sale of items that have _________ value
Expressive value (ie items that express a political, religious, philosophical, or ideological message).
Items like these can be sold with an Expressive Activities Permit
How does the ADA define a service animal?
The ADA defines a service animal as any guide dog, signal dog or other animal trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.
When you call bart police, what info will you give the dispatcher?

Must be in full uniform
Have a permanent fire dept patch emblem or badge
Must show their ID card to ride bart for free
When media personnel request access to district property, what’s the procedure?
Verify that tv crews or other media requesting access have a Letter of Authorization from the Communications Department
If media personnel without Letter of Authorization arrive to cover events, what dept do u notify?
Communications Dept. If outside of normal business hours, contact OCC Manager
Can patrons smoke in the free area?
No. Also, no smoking within 25 feet of public entrance
Can ppl sell candy in your station?
Yes, people can sell products on district property, only if they have a Concessions permit from Right Of Way Management Dept/Real Estate
When you call bart police, what info do you need to give the dispatcher?

When must a station agent make a citizens arrest?
If a non-felony crime is not witnessed by police, the SA must make a citizens arrest if they were a witness and want to have individual cited or arrested
Who is responsible to pay for medical treatment when a patron requires these services?
The patron is responsible. If they feel bart is responsible for injury, they must file claim with Barts insurance department
Customer reports they got separated from their child. What do you do?
Obtain info about where and how child got lost
Try to determine if the child is in station or train
Get detailed description including age, gender, ethnicity, name, clothing, special conditions, relationship to the RP
Contact ComSpec and BPD
Relay instructions from ComSpec/BPD to the RP
What does a contractor or vendor BOSC card with a red background indicate?
The card holder has non-riding privileges
How many chaperones must accompany each class on a field trip?
Two
A school group presents you with a letter of authorization. Your station is the beginning point for their field trip. List the steps you must take to help this group
- Count the number of students and chaperones
- Initial the letter of authorization
- Allow group to use the emergency exit
