Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- At least 6 months of uncontrollable rumination about past current, and future situations.
2.Muscle tension - Restlessness
- Sleep disturbance
- Keyed up
- Easily fatigued
7.Difficulty concentrating - Irritability
- Inability to tolerate uncertainty.
Typical age of onset: 18-23
Prevalence Rate: 10%
Gender ratio: 2:1 women to men
Gender ratio may be distorted because women visit doctor more often, more likely to be diagnosed, women used different words to describe symptoms, bias on the part of the clinicians

Core Symptoms
- Cognitively and emotionally re-experiences the event (AKA, flashbacks)
2.Numbing (Diminished capacity to experience joy or sadness.) - Nightmares about event
- Hyper-vigilance; being on alert
- Avoid anything that’s similar to traumatic event
Comorbidity: 80% have either depression, other anxiety disorders or substance abuse disorder.
Onset: can be immediately after the event, or delayed onset.
Gender ratio: 2:1 women to men
Prevalence rate: Affects 5% of population.
Panic disorder Definition

Fact:
The person has frequent panic attacks, and they worry about having future attacks.
Sudden onset of extreme symptoms that mimic a heart attack,
- Shortness of breath
- Dizziness
- Choking
- Chest pains
- Nausea.
Lasts up to 20-30 minutes though they reach their peak at around 10 minutes.
Prevalence Rate Panic Disorder: 2-3%
Age on onset: 18-24.
Gender Ratio: 2:1 woman to men
Panic Attacks: 30% of people have had a couple of panic attacks in their lifetime.

Comorbidity: 50% have another anxiety disorder, depression, once become teen-substance abuse
Responds well to treatment, if not treated usually gets much worse.
