Terms Lab 14 Flashcards
Where does the radial nerve travel; what does it look like? (166)
Arises from C7, C8, T1; runs just caudal to axillary artery in the axilla; short nerve
Where is the common trunk of the median and ulnar nerves; what does it look like?
It is the most caudal nerve in the axilla; arises from C8, T1, T2; largest three long branches
Where does the median nerve travel? (162, 165)
Cranial branch from the common trunk; runs along between the brachial artery and vein; enters cranial part of elbow
Where does the ulnar nerve travel? (162, 165)
Caudal branch from the common trunk; runs along between the brachial artery and vein; enters the caudal part of elbow
What is the cephalic vein? (156, 163)
Branch off the external jugular vein; travels on the craniolateral side of the forelimb
What is the median cubital vein? (166)
Crosses the front of the elbow to connect the brachial and cephalic veins
What is the common interosseous artery? (178)
Branch off the median a.; located on the medial side just below the elbow; slips between radius and ulna; only in the dog NOT in the cat
What is the brachial artery? (162, 166)
Continuation of the axillary artery; main artery of the forelimb
What is the caudal interosseous artery? (no photo)
Lies deep between the radius and ulna
What is the median artery? (174)
Continuation of the brachial artery; visible on medial side; partly deep, partly superficial
What is the deep antebrachial artery? (178)
Caudal branch of the median artery; mostly deep
