giving human characteristics to non-human entities (God)
apophatic / negative theolofy
describing God or divine by negation. (God is not evil instead of saying God is good)
caritas / cupiditas
caritas = selflessness. desire of wellbeing of others. (good)
cupiditas = selfishness. separates from God. (evil)
chain of being
hierarchical structure that classifies everything from lowest form of matter to highest being (God)

idea that God will save everyone.

not a real place. where people live in accordance to God’s will

cognitive = how things are in the world (linear time line)

free will and determinism are compatible. (God knows everything before it happens)

contemplation of the world. rejection of the world. idea that there is an afterlife to go to. seeking divine truth

i believe because it is absurd. faith in God transcends human reason and logic
demiurge
god-like character responsible for the creation of the world. (artisan or craftsman)
determinism
everything happens as it does the way it should
divine foreknowledge
God knows everything (past, present and future). contradicts the idea of free will

idea that God is simple. God’s essence is the same as his existence

belief that the validity of the sacraments (baptism) depends on the purity of the priest

one term that has 2 contradictory meanings.
essence
fundamental nature of something that makes it what it truly is.
eternal / everlasting
eternal = timeless existence (God)
everlasting = temporal. begins at a certain point in time and continues in time without an end.
ethnocentrism
idea that one culture is better than an other
etic vs emic analogy
etic = interpret the culture in your terms (outside perspective)
emic = interpret culture on its terms (inside perspective)
evil as privation
absence of goodness

nothing comes from nothing. every effect has an initial cause. nothing goes out of existence
