Term 1 .2 Flashcards
What is a varible ?
Variables are factors you need to control when designing and conducting an experiment. They are factors that might have some influence on an experiment. Controlling variables will make it a FAIR TEST.
What is a dependent variable ?
The variable you MEASURE for the experiment.
What is a independent variable ?
The variable “I”/you TEST or CHANGE.
What is a controlled variable ?
All the other variables in the experiment that need to be kept the same to ensure a FAIR TEST.
What is the diffrent between atom and molecule ?
An atom is the smallest unit of matter that still has all of the properties of its element, whereas a molecule is a structure that contains multiple atoms bonded together
What is a monotomic element?
Monoatomic elements are elements that are stable as single atoms
Practice electron shell diagram ?
How is the periodic table formed ?
In the basic form, elements are presented in order of increasing atomic number, in the reading sequence. Then, rows and columns are created by starting new rows and inserting blank cells, so that rows (periods) and columns (groups) show elements with recurring properties (called periodicity).
Properties that describe how sunstances to combine or break up to form new chemicals
Chemical Properties
Properties you can observe or measure
Physical Properties
The spreading one substances through another by movement of particles; how gases moves
diffusion
the new products formed in a chemical reaction
products
the chemicals used up in the reaction
reactants
each vertical column on the periodic table
group
