What is the enamel?
The hard outer covering of the teeth.
What is the job of the cement and periodontal fibres?
To hold the tooth in the jaw
Name 3 causes of tooth decay
Not brushing and flossing regularly, eating lots of foods high in sugar, not getting enough fluoride
How can tooth decay be prevented?
Brush teeth at least twice a day, cut down on snacks between meals, use mouthwash (but not directly after you brush your teeth)
What are the 4 types of teeth?
Incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars
What is dentine?
The softer layer found below the enamel
What is the pulp cavity?
The place where all the nerves and blood vessels are found in the tooth
What happens if the pH in the mouth drops below 5.5?
The acid attacks the tooth enamel

Sugar and bacteria in plaque mix to from acid which attacks teeth.
