Q

What do you know about PBL and how does it compare to other forms of learning ?

A

its problem based, you’re given a problem scenario, issue or a question that you are tasked with to resolve

presented with the problem, we determine LOs and decide the knowledge needed to solve that problem and work together to do so, we present our work and the info and competencies are then put together

PBL students retain more info in the long term and this is a researched fact as well as this it allows us to enhance inter professional team interaction and teamwork skills

What are the advantages and disadvantages of lecture based learning ?

A

+

  • suits candidates who prefer to absorb info and learn that way

  • students dictate their own learning experience
  • no real life application for a few years
  • patient contact is delayed
  • Does not suit people who learn in a less structured manner and like to learn in groups with their peers
  • can arguably be boring
