TBI lesion locations Flashcards
Frontal - primary motor cortex
- contralateral paralysis and paresis (distal limbs and lower part of face)
Frontal - Premotor area
- apraxia or motor planning difficulties
Frontal - prefrontal area
- loss of specific motor plans
frontal- supplementary motor
- loss of bilateral control of posture
frontal - motor speech area
- motor/Broca’s/ expressive aphasia
Prefrontal - dorsolateral
bilateral lesions: impaired ability to concentrate, memory
prefrontal - orbitofrontal
- unstable emotions; unpredictable behaviors
prefrontal - orbital gyri
inability to discriminate odors
temporal - primary auditory cortex
subtle decrease in hearing and ability to localize sounds
contralateral
temporal - wenicke’s speech area/superior temporal gyrus (L)
fluent/ receptive aphasia
temporal - temporal cortex (R)
- impairment of memory and learning
temporal - parahippocampal region
profound memory loss of recent events, no new learning
occipital - primary visual cortex
- contralateral homonymous hemianopsia
- impairment of vision
occipital - visual association cortex
visual agnosia
occipital - postierla multimodal area
perceptual impairment
