How is arranged marriage shown in Act 1?
A
Arranged marriage (Father in control of daughters’ destiny and chooses from suitors).
Older daughter usually married before younger sisters.

How is the importance of money and reputation shown in Act 1?
A
Money (dowry) important aspect of arranged marriage - daughters would have a dowry to bring to the marriage (husbands would own this as well as any other possessions as women/wives had no legal possessions).

Men in positions of power and greater freedom of movement. (Kate struggles with this.)
