Q

Why was use of faces and personality a weakness

(connection, storyline, catastophe theory- emotional engagement

A

use of faces/personality throughout-

The dancer’s facial expressions were limited throughout the routine, which can reduce the emotional connection to the audience.

Without the use of facial expressions, the judges and audience may find it harder to understand the storyline and connect with the dancers.

According to the catastrophe theory, low emotional engagement can disrupt focus and performance consistency

Q

why was the use of styles a weakness

(how many?, repetiton, cohesion, perfroamnce quality?, predictable)

A

Use of style:

the performance was only based on 2 styles with the same movement dynamic throughout- sometimes repetition of movements.

While consistency in style can create a strong identity and cohesion, it may also reduce the level of engagement for both the audience and the dancer.

Without variation the performance can seem predictable making it harder to maintain excitement and capture attention.

Focusing on one style could demotivate performers and lead to physical and mental burnout - causing performance to drop on the stage

Q

How was the performer exiting the stage messily

)distract audience/judges, peers didnt, social facilitatio - effect of audience)

A

The dancer exiting the stage messily negatively impacted on the professionalism and cleanliness of the performance.

This may have distracted the audience as they see his energy drop while on stage.

This can draw the attention away from the actual dance. It also had more impact because his peers had clean exits that did not distract the audience.

This could relate to the social fascination theory, where the presence of an audience can enhance or impair performance depending on the performers confidence and mental state
