Valve regurgitation due to stretching of the valve ring
Loses ability to pump blood to supply body’s metabolic needs - loses ‘pumping reserve’

A
Echocardiogram
Blood test of hormone BNP
ECG

How is systolic heart failure managed?
A
Loop diuretic e.g. Furosemide Potassium retaining diuretic e.g. spironolactone ACE Inhibitor e.g. Ramipril Beta- Blocker Some patients benefit from pacemaker
