Systems Theory Flashcards
The interdisciplinary study systems
OR
an approach that focuses not on individual components, but on unifying principles regarding how entities within organizations, operate or function
Systems theory
A cohesive conglomeration of interrelated and interdependent parts that is either natural or man-made
OR
an organize hole that has interacting parts in the interacting parts, maintain the system
System
is about broadly applicable concepts, and principles, as opposed to concepts and principles applicable to one domain of knowledge
General systems theory
Individuals are very complex and to understand them we must examine their biological composition, personal characteristics, interactional styles, culture, religion, and neighborhoods
Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model
Often described as person in environment model or person, process, context model
The time period and which we are interacting effects development
Chronosystem
Immediate direct influences on development, such as parents, peers, teachers, siblings, friends partners, and neighbors. Process of interactions with others on our immediate environment.
Microsystem
members of the microsystem interact with each other to affect development
Mesosystem
System of influence related to processes in relationships. The indirect influences on development. I.e. local industry, school board, local government, mass media, parents workplace
Exosystem
large cross roll and societal influences on development. Example, cultural, beliefs, ideologies, religion laws government.
Macrosystem
Defined as an emotionally distressing communication that includes contradictory messages with one message negating the other. Often feels like a no-win situation.
Double blind communication
This was developed to explain schizophrenic symptoms
Double blind theory
A model derived from strict rule bound, closed systems with mechanical structures
Cybernetics
first order change involves
Addressing symptoms
Second order change involves
Addressing underlying patterns
is the tendency for a system to maintain a relatively stable
Homeostasis
