6
Q

Which side has control in the event of an elevator control jam?

A

The system will be split so one side maintains control. The split is accomplished by putting pressure on both control columns until one side breaks free

Q

When is Mach Trim engaged?

A

Above speeds of Mach 0.615

Counteracts nose down tendency of mach tuck as speed approaches mach 1 with stabilizer trim

8
Q

What are the conditions for Speed Trim to operate?

A
  • Airspeed between 100kts and Mach 0.60 10 sec after takeoff
  • 5 seconds following releases of trim switches
  • Autopilot not engaged
  • Sensing of trim requirement

Speed Trim adjusts trim in unusual configurations such as; low gross weight, aft centre of gravity, high trust. Mostly during climbout from takeoff or go around

  • Speed break lever armed
  • Speed break ARMED light
  • RA less than 10 ft
  • Thrust levels IDLE
  • Wheels spin up to 60kts
  • Gear compression on touch down

Q

How are the leading edge lift devices controlled?

A

Automatically through trailing edge flap selection

Leading edge Flaps always fully extend, leading edge slats will extend according to trailing edge flap setting

Q

When is auto slat function enabled?

A

At high angles of attack during take off and approach to landing, or if entering a stall condition.

Q

How does trailing edge flap relief work to reduce forces on flaps at high configuration speeds?

A

With flaps set at 10-40 flaps will automatically retract to next lower flap setting at if speeds are exceeded and will automatically extend back once speed is lowered to within tolerances
