How is an engine fire detected?

A

Through a dedicated fire loop.

How is an engine fire extinguished?

A

Pull the T-handle, which closes fuel shutoff valve, hydraulic shutoff valve and pneumatic air, hopefully starving the fire.
Rotate the T-handle to discharge one or both fire bottles.

What occurs when a T-handle is pulled?

A

Fuel shutoff valve (located in belly) closes
Hydraulic shut-off valve closes
Engine lip anti-ice valve closes
Engine bleed valve closes

How is a fire in the baggage compartment detected and extinguished?

A

Detected by 2 smoke detectors in the baggage compartment ceiling.

There are 2 fire bottles, one instantaneous, one provides a metered discharge over 50 minutes. Discharge of both bottles are controlled by one push of EXTG BAGG button.

How is an APU fire detected? Extinguished?

A

The APU fire loop detects Fire. APU FADEC auto shuts down on the ground only.

The APU fuel shutoff button, press in
APU EXTG button will discharge the fire bottle.
