Systems approach to designing Flashcards
What is a system made up of?
Several parts that work together as a whole to carry out a function
What do all electronic systems require?
input
process
Output
What does systems diagrams clearly show?
The input process and output stages of the system the more complex the system, the more blocks that are in the diagram
What does PCB stand for?
Printed circuit board
What are PCBs?
They are nonconductive boards that contain copper tracks that Link holes where electrical components can be inserted
What are PCBs designed for?
The design, specifically for each circuit components
What is surface mounting?
When components are attached directly onto the surface of a PCB
What does a PCB support and connect?
Electrical components
List four examples of switches
Toggles, slides, pushes and microswitches
What are switches which is used for?
The use to complete or disconnect a circuit they can be turned on (closed)to let current flow or turned off(opened) to stop the current Flo
What does LDR stand for
Light dependent resistor
How do LDRs work?
Resistance increases in the dark (limiting the current) and decreases in the light (increases current)
Examples of where LDRs are commonly use?
Street lights that come on automatically when It gets dark
How do you pressure sensors work?
Depending on the sensors, function resistance, either increases or decreases to allow more or less current to flow through
What do pressure sensors do?
They detect changes in pressure
Examples of where pressure sensors have been used
They often used in car tyres to notify drivers with a pressure drops below a certain level
