systems Flashcards
What are the 6 nutrients
Carbs, proteins, lipids, water, vitamins, and minerals
4 main steps of digestion
Ingestion, Digestion, Absorption, Egestion
Path of digestion
Mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, large intestine, rectum, anus
What does small intestine do and what are the 3 parts
Duodenum, Jejunum, and Ileum
What is cellular respiration
C6H12O6 + 6O2 🡺 6CO2 +6H2O + energy
Glucose + oxygen 🡺 carbon dioxide + water +energy
and provide energy and consume oxygen
what is atp
the source of energy for use and storage at the cellular level
Breathing vs respiration
Breathing is the physical movement of air and Respiration is the chemical exchange of Oxygen and Co2
What is Hemoglobin
An iron protein in ted blood cells that bind with O2 to make Oxyhemoglobin and helps move oxygen around the body
Path of air
Nasal cavity -> pharynx -> larynx -> trachea -> Bronchi -> Bronchioles -> Alveoli
Path of blood
Right atrium -> right ventricle-> lungs -> left atrium -> left ventricle -> arteries -> capillaries -> veins
