Atopic Dermatitis
Chronic resulting from type I hypersensitivity reaction.
Manifest within first two months of life.
35% infants will develops asthma.
60% patients diagnosed within first year of life.
Several type of eczema associated with family history of atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis and asthma
Hallmark signs of Atopic Dermatitis
Skin rash, pruritus
10% with sever AD will develop cataract
-shield and PSC
Rosacea
Affects sebaceous glands Signs; -Papules ( cheek, forehead, nose) -Rhinophyma -Facial flushing
Cogan syndrome
Cogan syndrome is a rare systemic autoimmune vasculitis characterized by intraocular inflammation and vestibuloauditory dysfunction (particularly neurosensory deafness but also tinnitus and vertigo) developing within months of each other. The disease primarily occurs in young adults, with both sexes affected equally.
Normal ESR value
Female > (age+10)/2
Make > age/2
Normal CRP
0-1.0 mg/dl
> 2.45mg/dl associated with 3x greater risk of GCA
AAION lab evaluation
Elevated ESR
elevated CRP> 2.45 mg/dl
Elevated platelets > 400000
