- Eye contact
- Non-threatening manner, appearing unhurried
- Facilitative noises
- Pick up non-verbal queues & acknowledge issues (“that sounds painful”)
- Control over talkativeness with polite authority
- Not offer opinion too soon.
- Demonstrate interest. and clarify history.
- use both open and closed questions.
