a tool used to assess the significant effects of a project or development proposal on the environment.
The Millenium Impact Assessment
a major assessment of the human impact on the environment, called for by the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000, launched in 2001 and published in 2005 with more than $14 million of grants.
open system
a system that has external interactions.
closed system
natural physical system that does not allow transfer of matter in or out of the system
isolated system
a physical system so far removed from other systems that it does not interact with them.
