- Men’s rea (Guilty mind)
- Connection with scene and the crime
- Character / Behavior
- Their history
- Mental background

A
- Accelerants
- Containers
- Ignitors
- Traces of debris from the scene
Also consider:
- Burnt facial hair
- Smell of smoke
- Residues of fuel or other products on skin

- Clothing on heaters
- Toaster by curtains
- Leaving a pot cooking - unattended
- Cooking while under the influence
- Ceiling exhaust fans

- Catering

- Shedding of materials
- Peculiar smell
- Shrapnel marks

What to do with liquid samples?
A
- Don’t send liquid - only the bottles
- Ensure bottles/lids are secure
- Clean outside of bottle and place in polystyrene box
- If possible, hand deliver
- Post under separate cover in a NZ Post packaging or place in a tin
