Surveying Flashcards

1
Q

When do we consider altered path of insertion

A

When we have a minimum of two upper anteriors missing

  • for retention if soft tissue undercut
  • to get rid of teeth undercuts for aesthetics
  • remove obstruction for placement (ease of insertion)

Q

What is the process of surveying a cast?

A
  1. Attach to survey table and get common path of displacement with ruler
  2. Tripod
  3. Check saddle areas with analysing rod for soft and hard tissue undercuts
  4. Then use graphite rod to mark these undercuts
    - (also draw like into sulcus from abutment tooth to show where denture will run until)
  5. Use undercut gauge and pencil to mark
