Restorative Flashcards
Definition of cavity margins?
Junction between walls of cavity and external surface of the tooth
What are cavo-surface margin angles?
Angle formed at cavity margins (any junction between prepared and unprepared tooth)
What is the line angle of a cavity prep
The line formed from any 2 surfaces meeting at an apex
What is a point angle in a cavity prep?
The point formed from converging of 3 surfaces
Occlusal/pulpal floor of a restoration definition?
Surface of cavity prep parallel with occlusal plane overlying the pulp
Gingival floor definition in cavity prep?
Surface of interproximal cavity that lies parallel with the occlusal plane at the gingival margin
What is the pulpal axial wall in a restorative cavity?
Axial wall (surface of cavity parallel to the long axis of the tooth) between gingival and occlusal floor for the pulp horn
Buccal/lingual axial wall
Axial walls bounded to cavosurface angle and floors of cavity
What is the isthmus in a restorative cavity?
Narrowest part of occlusal key cut in proximity-occlusal preparations for retention
What is the proximal surface of the tooth
Face of tooth facing the wall of the other neighbouring tooth
What is the marginal ridge of a tooth?
Raised mesial and distal parts of the occlusal area at proximal areas
