- Size, shape, colour
- Where?
- Single or multiple
- How long has it been there?
- Mobile or attached to underlying tissues?
- Increasing in size?
- Sessile or pedunculated?
- Texture: Soft, firm, rubbery, fluctuant, bony hard
- Overlying mucosa: Ulcerated, smooth, lobulated
- Bleed? Pulsatile?

Characteristic of Malignant Lesions
A
- Fast growing
- Indurated/firm
- Irregular surface
- More red and white on surface
- Sometimes ulcerated
- Bleeds easily
