Backhus Towel Clamp (1)
Have no balls, cannot regulate the depth of skin penetration. Used to clamp drapes or towels TO the patient.
Rat Tooth Forceps (2)
Interconnecting teeth. Hold dense, fibrous tissue.
Halstead Mosquito Hemostatic Forceps (3)
Always the smallest pair. Used for small vessels.
Mayo Scissors (4)
Used in general operating procedures. Dissecting scissors that are very sturdy. Can be used to cut suture material and paper drapes. -Curved or straight. -“blunt-blunt”, “sharp-blunt”, or “sharp-sharp”. -Length is 5 1/2”-9”.
Olsen-Hegar Needle Holders (5)
Needle holder with scissors. Used to hold a suture needle and cut thread. Normally used with interrupted or individual sutures.
Metzenbaum Scissors (6)
Used to cut deep, delicate tissue only. Never used to cut anything else. -Curved or straight.
Allis Tissue Forceps (7)
Grasping with a lock. Used to hold fibrous tissue securely.
Snook Ovariectomy Hook, Spay Hook (8)
Used to retrieve uterine horns in spay.
Rochester-Carmalt Forceps (9)
LARGEST! Heavy, curved or straight. Used to clamp, crush ovarian and uterine pedicles. Spay.
Scalpel Handle (10)
No 3 blade for small animal, No 4 blade for large.
Brown-Adson (Adson-Brown) Forceps (11)
Small serrations cause minimal trauma. Look like tweezers.
Lister Bandage Scissors (12)
Cutting bandage material or tape.
Straight Littauer Suture Scissors (13)
Remove sutures ONLY.
