LOG ROLL
1. no lifting more than 10#
2. no valsalva
3. use binder
4. no bending past 90*

what is post operative ileus ?
Lack of normal muscle contractions in intestines ( peristalsis is messed up and there’s backup)
Pts constipated, bloated
post abdominal surgery PT consideration
get them moving
Mitral valve, tricuspid valve, aortic valve replacement precautions
sternal precautions
1- No pushing/pulling with UEs
2- No UE ROM past 90 degrees flex
3- No lifting more than 10lbs
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) precautions
minimally invasive, little to no sternal precautions
AKA acute care PT goal
get them ready for prosthetic fitting
prevent hip and knee flexion contractures
Toe, metatarsal, or other foot amputations WB precautions
partial weightbearing on heel only or NWB
