Who is in charge of Surgery Scheduling?
Gus is in charge of scheduling dentals
Let the owners know Gus our dental consultant will give them a call in regards to setting up a dental and what needs to be done before hand.
Prep for surgery-
All patients must have pre anesthetic bloodwork done within the 4-6 weeks of surgery unless it’s a puppy or kitten some doctor will allow up to 6-8 weeks.
(Always check with a doctor though.)
Special Prep for SX-
Some patient’s prior to surgery, usually our older patients, will require an EKG and a chest x-ray this makes sure no issues with the heart and that they have clear lungs.
Dental Grading System-
Dentals are graded from 1 to 5. Grade 4 and 5 dentals can only be scheduled with a Grade 1 dental NO other dentals are to be scheduled for that day.
Dental Days-
Monday’s Ask Dr.K what procedures can be scheduled.
Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 2- Elective and 3 Dental procedures
Wednesday’s and Friday’s 1 – Dental Grade 2 or below
SX- Prep (Patient)
Patients must be fasted no eating after midnight the night before that means no breakfast, treats or water in the morning.
(If they take insulin or another medication check with a doctor what would be best for the patient.)
SX Prep- (Client)
Owners should receive an email the day before with the surgical paperwork attached that is; Estimate and Authorization. They must have this completely filled out.
•It is your job to go over it when they come in.
Once everything is filled out by the owner make sure to attach everything, under the appropriate codes The code is authorization and estimate(Boarding) and the other code is drop off surgical questionnaire(Dentals) or hospital questionnaire(Surgeries)
