Surah Al-Lahab (The Flame)

Question 1

Surah Al-Lahab verse 1

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

Tabbat yadaa abee Lahabinw-wa tabb

Answer 1

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and may he be ruined!

Question 2

Surah Al-Lahab verse 2

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَب

Maa aghnaa ‘anhu maaluhoo wa ma kasab

Answer 2

Neither his wealth nor ˹worldly˺ gains will benefit him.

Question 3

Surah Al-Lahab verse 3

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَب

Sa-yaslaa naaran zaata lahab

Answer 3

He will soon enter a fire, full of flames,

Question 4

Surah Al-Lahab verse 4

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَب

Wamra-atuhoo hammaa latal-hatab

Answer 4

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.

Question 5

Surah Al-Lahab verse 5

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ

Fee jeedihaa hablum mim-masad

Answer 5

Around her neck will be a rope of palm fibre.
