The 2 1/2” handline is generally the largest handline used by the Elyria Fire Department and under ideal situations, require ….. firefighters to advance and operate effectively, thats not to say they should not be pulled when staffing is low but perhaps the IC should consider teaming up companies in order to effectively utilize the benefits of these lines.

Prior to an exterior supply, extreme caution must be observed over the total G.P.M. flowing. tank water supply may only last 3 to 4 minutes when flowing a 2 1/2” line.
21/2” lines SHALL not be placed into service for an INTERIOR ATTACK WITHOUT A SUPPLY FROM A STATIC WATER SOURCE.
Pump operators MUST keep the company officer or IC aware of the supply limitations before firefighters are at risk of losing viable hose pressures.
