What would you do to ensure you understand the scope of the work to be done on your site?
Review the program, construction package, etc. and contact the Superintendent and Engineer for clarification of misunderstandings and/or issues/concerns. Acquire training on specific data management software. Identify operational hazards and safety requirements described in the program.
How do you ensure that good communication is maintained between yourself and everyone that may affect your drilling operation
Detailed handovers with your cross-shift, Attending pre-tour meetings with rig crews/services - outlining the scope of work, set expectations. Giving clear and concise orientations with new workers about safety and operations at the work site. Obtaining any clarifications of items that you are unsure of from the office. Staying in communication with other Husky operations in the area - to maintain efficiency (sharing services) and to ensure that lessons are communicated
What operations should you always be in attendance and participating in?
Handovers with your cross-shift, Morning calls with the Calgary office, Attending safety meetings with rig crews/services, Laying down the BHA’s - inspecting the BHA, Making up float equipment while running casing, Cement jobs, Accumulator function test - after pressure testing, Drilling out casing strings, Verifying the receiving/sending of equipment to/from location.
What practices do you conduct to supervise and manage the site to identify and minimize risk of a serious incident on site?
Conduct site orientations. Verify that controls are in place for safe work practices. Focus inspections on critical work activity and equipment. Ensure work is properly planned and services arrive when needed. Ensure crews are conducting risk assessment and following safe work procedures. Ensure there is appropriate supervision and/or mentorship for new or short service workers. Ensure incident reporting is properly done and crews are learning from incidents.
