SubTaler Joint Flashcards
where is the subtaler joint
between talus and calcaneous
How is the talus oriented?
medially. talus sits slightly obliquely on calcaneus
How is the calcaneus oriented/
laterally.
What is the axis of henke?
due to the articulating surfaces, the movements are not clean but tend to be combined around an imaginary line called axis of henke.
Where is axis of henke/
Axis enters the posteriolateral aspect of calcaneous and runs anteriorly, superiorly and medially in the joint, exiting thru medial neck of talus
Describe inversion
happens around AOH and is a combination of plantar flexion, adduction and supination
Describe eversion
happens around AOH and is combo of dorsiflexion, abduction and pronatin
Name the ligament between calcaneus and talus
Interosseus talocalcaneal ligament
