Subendocardial MI Flashcards
What is the definition of Subendocardial MI?
An infarction that involves 1/3 or 1/2 at most of the ventricular wall
What are the two types of Subendocardial MI?
Diffuse and Regional
What is the pathology of diffuse Subendocardial MI?
Doesn’t usually occur from occlusive thrombus instead occurs as a result of the combination of coronary atheroma and global hypotension.
What does diffuse Subendocardial MI look like?
Infarction is patchy around some or all of the circumference of the ventriclar wall.
What is the Pathology of Regional Subendocardial MI?
Due to early lysis of thrombus overlying ruptured plaque.
What does regional Subendocardial MI look like?
Region of infarction in area of affected coronary vessel
What are the complications of Subendocardial MI?
Same as transmural MI except aneurysm, rupture and pericaditis are rare.
