When and why did their reign largely end?
This period officially ended in 1954 after the supreme court ruled it as illegal. The ruling was the result of a case against Paramount
What is vertical integration?
Vertical integration (specifically within film) is when a singular company owns multiple businesses involved in the production and distribution of a film
What were the “Hollywood 10”?
These were a group of Hollywood screenwriters, directors and producers who were questioned over possible communist affiliations during the Cold War
What was UA (United Artists)?
• UA was a film production company founded by many famous silent film actors of the 1920’s, including Charlie Chaplin
• The company was behind many successful films in the 20’s
• They allowed actors and directors to control their own financial and artistic interests rather than being dependent upon commercial studios
