facial surface reduction: 1 mm/ 850 diamond bur
all lingual surface reduction: .5mm
strip crown indications

2) malformed anterior teeth
3) discolored anterior teeth
4) developmental defects (AI)
5) traumatized teeth
strip crown criteria
1) anterior teeth
2) maxillary teeth more frequently
3) no overt pulpal involvement
4) functional
5) more than half of the root remaining
6) enamel and tooth structure sufficient
7) behavior
Technique - Pinkham
1) pick shade first
2) anesthetize then isolate
3) minimized contamination
4) note mesio-distal width of too or space available
5) remove decay
6) protect pulp
7) preparation of tooth
Remove the collar
make sure crown extends 0.5 - 1mm below finish line
Prepare tooth for composite - etch, bond
make sure no contamination
fill crown about 2/3 with composite resin
- seat on tooth confirming fit at gingival margin
- orientate w/ adjacent teeth
- remove excess resin
- cure resin (F, I, L)
Problems that can be encountered
- tearing of crown with trimming
- splitting of crown when seating
- unable to remove celluloid form
- stains show through composite
- discoloration of gingival margins
REMOVE ALL COMPOSITE BEFORE CURING
