Striated muscle Flashcards
Is striated voluntary or involuntary?
Voluntary of the skeleton (skeletal muscle)
What type of cell junctions are present in striated muscle?
No cell junctions here
Label this cell
A) Blood vessels
B) Perimyosin
C) Epimysium
D) Fascicle
E) Muscle fibre
F) Endomysium
G) Tendon that extends to the fascia
H) Bone
Where is the endomysium found and what is it made of?
Found around muscle fibres and made of loose connective tissue. Contains capillaries and nerve fibres.
Describe the role of Perimysium. What is it made of?
Surrounds the fascicles (bundles of muscle fibres). Made of fibrous connective tissue.
Describe the role of Epimysium. What is it made of?
Covers the entire muscle and made of dense connective tissue.
Does skeletal muscle have intercalated disks?
NO
How can you recognise the transverse sections and longitudinal of striated muscle?
- The white stripes between fibres/cells are the endomysium
- Both have peripheral nuclei
- Both are multi-nucleated
