what is a mindset?
A
dweck(2008)= stable yet malleable concept/ belief of a topic
- it is a portal between unconscious and conscious beliefs

what are some stress responses?
A
- release of adrenaline
- increased HR
- increased breathing rate
- oxytocin release- encourages us to seek support and heals our heart
these can be useful if we consider them useful

Crum and Langer (2007)
A
female room attendants working in hotels were measured on physiological health variables affected by exercise (e.g. weight, bp)
- they were split into 2 groups; control and ‘informed’ group
- the informed group= told the work they do is good exercise and meets recommendations of an active lifestyle
- actual behaviour did not change in informed group
- 4 weeks after= informed group perceived to be getting more exercise
- this compared to control group who showed a decrease across a range of physiological measures
- CONCLUSION= mindset and beliefs moderates the relationship between exercise and health

stress mindset is directly linked to how stressed you feel and your level of physical wellbeing
stress mindset has also been found to= enhance academic perfomance/ increase approach behaviours/ associated with increased energy levels/ linked to decreases in depressive symptoms
