Nonspecific response of the body to any demand placed on it to adapt, good when short term and at mild to moderate level as it is essential for life
Eustress (positive stress)

Distress (negative stress)
Stress that crushes or oppresses (has the same hormones as positive stress released, what differs is the response)
Physiologic characteristics of fight or flight (these occur regardless of if the stress is physical or mental)

- increased perspiration to body core
- decreased gastric movement
- alert and improved memory
