How long does it take to make a stone castle?
Medieval stone castles were huge fortifications. It took several hundred men working for several years to make one.
What was a curtain walls
The curtain wall enclosed the castle and protected those inside
What’s was the keep
The keep was the main building inside the castles. It held the lords apartments, the great hall and a chapel
What was a dungeon
A dungeon was used to keep food cool and store prisoners
What was the battlement?
Battlements ran along the top of the key and the walls and soldiers would patrol them during the day and at night
what were towers/Tourette’s?
Towers/Tourette’s were built into the walls at regular intervals specially corners
What was the enclosed area around the keep?
The Bailey
Where were the drawbridge and Port colours found?
in the gate house, the drawbridge and put colour were found
What was the moat
A moat was a ditch around the castle field of water
