FENFLURAMINE - 5HT2B agonist previously used for PTSD, affects heart valves.

SE: Hyperthermia, Arrythmias, Rhabdo

Cholinergic Stimulants

A

Nucleus Basalis, Septum, Pedunculopontine Nuclei

NICOTINE - agonist at Alpha-7 nicotinic receptors. Increases Dopamine levels.
Both a relaxant and a stimulant

SE: Increased clotting, tachycardia

EPHEDRINE (Ma Huang) - nonselective alpha/beta agonist. Asthma and weight reduction

YOHIMBE - alpha-2 antagonist. Arousal from anesthesia, sexual dysfunction, Type II Diabetes

“Dirty Drug” - many actions

  1. Inhibits DAT, NET, SERT
  2. Activates orexin receptors –> Increases Dopamine
  3. Inhibits GABA transmission
  4. Increases histamine in the hypothalamus
