Q

What are the Trust core values? How can you represent these?

A
  1. Kind and compassionate
  2. Respectful and considerate
  3. Listening and learning
  4. Friendly and welcoming
  5. Open and honest
  • The similarity between my own values and the trust values are one of the reasons why I want to work here. More important is the fact that the culture that staff and patients experience at Whiston does represent these values.
  • Deliver care with a strong focus on what is important for that patient. This is represented in positive comments on my relationship with patients in MSFs.
  • Evidenced by work with ICU follow-up and ICU Steps
  • Background in uncovering unmet needs via patient reporting outcomes and generating change and improvement by audit and QI.
  • Engagement in governance and utilising these areas to improve care and facilitate change.

Q

What do you see are the main challenges to the Trust in next few years?

A

None unique issues:
1. Ongoing performance and efficiency delivery coupled with a funding crisis in the NHS - low hanging fruit: reduce locums (ensure rotas covered, change in shift patterns), ensure meeting best practice tariffs, flow and discharge planning (creative measures).
2. NHS staff dissatisfaction and industrial action - staff retention through training and pay progression.
3. Competition for staff and commission from the private sector to not compromise investment in NHS.

Unique issues:
1. Merger with Southport and Ormskirk
