Why do you want to work in the NHS?
A
Honestly and superficially:
1. It is the expected path and the main employer for doctors in this country.
2. My family and I are settled here and developed connections in this region and the opportunities outside of the NHS for Critical Care are not appealing.
3. My medical qualifications are not transferrable to Japan.
Also honestly and a bit deeper:
1. I genuinely still believe in the Bevan’s principles of founding the National Health Service.
2. Despite its current challenges which can seem daunting I still think it is something which we can be proud of and demonstrate to the rest of the world.
3. That there is still an honour in the ethos of “being the change that you want to see in the world.”
