Chemo or radiation before transplant to eradicate malignant cells
Nonmyeloblative transplant
Mini transplant- they do not destroy your immune system they just weaken it so that it can accept the new transplant. The new transplant attacks the old sick immune system on purpose

Early complications from HSCT
N/V/infection
Chronic GVHD attacks what and when does it occur?
80 days out and it attacks vagina eyes and mouth
Acute GVHD attacks what?
Skin liver and gut
What is VOD
Veno occlusive disease of the liver. The veins become occluded blocking the liver causing weight gain R upper quadrant pain and confusion
After a transplant what is a sign of septicemia?
Chills with or without fever
When do short term complications from transplant occur?
10 days after
When do long term complications from transplant occur?
80-100 days after
What does apheresis cause?
Drop in calcium which causes rigors
