What happens once the shop drawings are approved?
fabricator orders material and steel members are prepared for erection
What does the erector do?
assembles structural steel members on site in accordance with shop drawings and construction documents
What does the steel fabricator do?
prepares steel members and delivers them to the construction site for assembly
How do workers prepare the steel for assembly?
cut to length, drill, punch, weld, and add angles, plates and other accessories to members as indicated on the approved shop drawings
How are fabricated members stacked?
using overhead crane, awaiting transportation to the construction site
How are steel members labeled?
individually labeled to correspond with information on the erection drawings so that each piece can be assembled in the proper location
What does the erector do?
assembles steel members delivered to the construction site
What is the difference between the fabricator and the erector?
may or may not be same entity
