Statistics Chapter Flashcards
What is stereotype threat
It is the threat to internal validity because of stereotypes
What is ANOVA really about
It compares the between and within group variability
If groups truly differ , the between variability is greater than the within group variability
–> F score > 1
What is the F distribution
It is the test statistic for the two variabilities
It is strictly positive
It has 2 degrees of freedom
What are the assumptions for the ANOVA test
Quantitative variables in both groups
Independent random samples
Normal distribution
What does a high between group variable mean
It means that the values of the groups differ a lot from each other
It therefore means that the there is higher difference between groups
What does a high within group variable mean
It means that the groups have high variable within themselves
This is often problematic for distinguishing between groups because values often correlate
