Statistics Flashcards
1
Q
what will all null hypotheses state?
A
- there is no significant difference between means
OR
- correlation
OR
- difference between categoric data
2
Q
concluding using P values?
A
- statistical test value exceeds critical value
- reject/accept null hypothesis (usually reject)
- prob that X due to chance less than 5%
- difference between X/correlation = significant
- state hypothesis correct e.g. height does have an impact on weight
3
Q
describing stats tests?
A
- construct null hypothesis (if not already done)
- carry out stats test (say which one)
- use critical value table to show P less than or equal to 0.05 (less than 5% probability correlation due to chance)
- use critical value table figure to reject / accept null
4
Q
p is less then or equal to 0.05
A
- result significant
- reject null
5
Q
how do you calculate degrees of freedom?
A
number of categories minus 1
6
Q
how do you calculate expected values?
A
observed added together / categories
