What is a Vertical Standard?
Standards that apply to a particular industry or to particular operations, practices, conditions, processes, means, methods, equipment, or installations.
Fall Protection is an example of a vertical standard.
What is a Horizontal Standard?
Horizontal standards are also known as general standards because they apply not just to specific industries, but to all industries in general. Respiratory protection is an example of a horizontal standard.
What is a Performance Standard?
A performance standard is a management-approved expression of the performance threshold(s), requirement(s), or expectation(s) that must be met to be appraised at a particular level of performance.
Workload or output measures. These measures indicate the amount of work performed or number of services received.
EXAMPLES:
* HAZCOM
* Efficiency measures
* Effectiveness or outcome measures.
* Productivity measures.
What are Specification Standards?
Fixed requirements stipulating dimensions, materials, types, etc…
Guardrails are an example of specification standards.
